After nearly twenty years in business, serving primarily the wholesale interiors industry, Ferro Designs LLC is investing resources to bring their line of unique, hand-crafted lighting, furniture, and accessories to their customers through an eCommerce store on their website, www.ferrodesigns.com. “It just isn’t possible for us to bring every style, color, and size of each of our products to a trade show. With our website, you can know all of your options,” says Mark Morrison, founder of the business.
“The first trade show we went to was in Leiper’s Fork, TN near Franklin. We brought all six of our children with us. They thought it was hilarious that their dad couldn’t back a trailer. We didn’t sell a thing!”
But it didn’t take long for Mark and his products to get some serious traction at the Scott Antique Market in Atlanta, a favorite spot for interior designers to find treasures for their projects. “I place Ferro Designs lamps in many of my interior design projects. They are compatible with many different design styles. Every house has a perfect spot for a Ferro lamp!” says Susan Campbell of Legacy Residential Interiors.
Design and Photo Credits: Susan Campbell, Legacy Residential InteriorsCampbell is just one of many interior designers and shop owners that have become regular customers of Ferro Designs in the last twenty years. “We would work really hard building things to take to Scott’s, sell almost everything, and get home so we could start building for the next month!” says Mark. More recently, he and his team have taken to the road, exhibiting his products at Dallas Market Center, High Point Antique and Design Center in North Carolina, Blue Hills at Round Top in Texas and Americas Mart in Atlanta, forging new business relationships with customers from California to New York.
Although Mark’s designs started with tables featuring large ornate antique gate or balcony panels, his lighting designs are what have really taken off. Some feature antique cast iron, but others are crafted of architectural iron and steel with a distressed finish. “One of our most popular designs is our Spheres lighting design, which can be purchased in a floor lamp, three different wall sconce styles, and a table lamp style which can be customized by height, color, and base type.”
Every Ferro Designs lamp, table, or accessory is hand-crafted in their 1940s-era brick laundry building in Tullahoma, Tennessee. You won’t find an assembly line here or any robots building anything, just good people creating a solid product one at a time.
